Terms of use
Last updated draft, 5 October 2026: to be reviewed by a lawyer before launch
The terms for using RentalPlace.
About us
RentalPlace is run by Byron Barillas, a sole trader in Brisbane, Queensland (ABN 64 230 971 137). Contact: hello@rentalplace.com.au.
We're an advertising and introduction platform. We are not a real estate agent or property manager. We don't negotiate or enter into tenancy agreements, and we never collect rent, bonds or deposits.
Using RentalPlace
By using the site you agree to these terms. Accounts are for people aged 18 or over, one per person, with accurate details. Keep your sign-in secure. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will give reasons where we can.
Listings
The listing rules are part of these terms. We review every listing, and may edit it for formatting or compliance, decline it or remove it. Approving a listing doesn't mean we guarantee it's accurate.
If you list a place
You confirm you're allowed to rent it out, the details are accurate, and you'll comply with the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act, anti-discrimination and privacy law. If you act as an agent for others, you need a licence. You keep ownership of what you post, and let us display and promote it on RentalPlace and our channels while it's live.
If you're looking
Inspect before you pay anything. Check which kind of arrangement it is. Bonds must be lodged with the RTA. Agreements are between you and the lister: we're not a party to them.
Not allowed
- Scams, fake listings or discrimination.
- Harassment or misusing anyone's personal information.
- Scraping, spam or automated access.
Reports and complaints
Report a listing with the button on it, or email us. We act on valid complaints, including defamation complaints, within 7 days.
Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for arrangements between users or for the accuracy of listings.
Changes
We'll give at least 14 days' notice of material changes, by email or on the site. You can close your account at any time.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland.
